Information
This conference is focused on providing information about the historical evolution of the figure the Devil (Etsai) in the Basque lands, speaking about his local names, primordial traits and symbolism associated to him (animals, plants, fungi, tools, musical instruments...)
It will also address his rol in Basque cosmovision, his folklorical manifestations (festivities, dances, art works...), the mythical sites where he appears and the necessary aspects to consider in the interactions with him.
Moreover, we will discuss the consequences of making a deal with this being through the analisys of the traditional crafts and magical practices considered devilish arts. At the end, we will see some recommendations and amulets to protect oneself from his influence.
This educational activity includes access to the live session, presentation, bibliography, recording and participation in a public forum.
